Dusk 'Til Dawn
05:11
|
|||
I love my woman
She treats me wrong
She been messin' around at night
From dusk till dawn
Sun down, sun up
From dusk till dawn
I'll be waiting all night for that girl to prove me wrong
Sun down, sun up
From dusk till dawn
I'll be a son of a bitch if that girl don't prove me wrong
I've spent nights on the road
And she swears that she's at home
But she's not alone
And I wonder where she's gone
I met my baby at the bar
I was playin' this here four-string guitar
And she said "I've dated a man in a band before"
So you know I'm a drunk, and I come home late
And when I get there, I want food on my plate
When you're ready for bed
You know I want so much more
Wasn't long before she got bored
I was coming home late, she was keeping score
Started knocking around on other mens' doors
I started hearing rumors, couldn't be true
People started telling me things about you
Baby girl, I don't know what to do
I don't care what your other man says he'll do
'Cause baby, baby, I'm coming home to you

Progressing/Regressing
04:15
|
|||
Progressing, regressing,
But getting somewhere
That's how this life's been since I started to care
Reaching and preaching,
But never too loud
That's how these words just tend to come out
Silent but screaming,
Aware but still dreaming,
Alive in the sense that this heart is still beating
Lonely but loved,
A belligerent dove,
Haunted by the view of this world from above
Simple schemes,
All dreampt up in dreams,
That's how these words will all tend to seem
Line by line,
They will all turn out fine,
Give 'em some room, and give 'em some time
Silent but screaming,
Aware but still dreaming,
Alive in the sense that this heart is still beating
Lonely but loved,
A belligerent dove,
Haunted by the view of this world from above
Nothing for me,
but a song and a tree,
Nothing for you but to hear what I see
Nothing for them,
but to hope that we send,
A message of Love on a wandering wind
Silent but screaming,
Aware but still dreaming,
Alive in the sense that this heart is still beating
Lonely but loved,
A belligerent dove,
Haunted by the view of this world from above
Haunted by the view,
I've been haunted by the view,
Haunted by the view of this world from above

Speculation
05:46
|
|||
Can't find a card to lay to end my turn
Impatient eyes, they stare with looks that burn
The burn pile looks slim with the cards I hold
My destination of the deck, my story's untold
Play moves fast and swift throughout my smoked cigarette
High numbers throw down - I hope I don't forget
My card is in the pile; I know its destination
I call it by its name
Speculation
It's what you got, it's what you got
Speculation
You're on the spot, you're on the spot
Speculation
No time to stop, no time to stop
Speculation

Sitting under a pastel sky,
creation is the moment that you wonder why
Sitting under a pastel sky,
creation is the moment that you wonder why
So whether you laugh or whether you sigh,
the thought moves faster than the time going by,
creation is the moment that you wonder why
If you give me a song I'll give you a smile,
you'll give me a reason to stay for a while
If I give you a song could you give me a smile,
I'll give you some time if you've got a while
If you wear my shoes I'll wear yours in style,
we'll trade them right back at the end of a mile,
If I give you a song will you give me a smile
The sound of the surf on the wide open shore,
cleared up my thoughts and opened some doors,
The song that she sang of a life far away,
had me thinking 'bout life if I hadn't of stayed,
and 'bout where I might be if the night were the daytime to me
All that you've seen and all the places you've been,
are etched like in stone, upon your skin,
and there ain't no turning back
But nothing that you see is ever gonna last
She came to me like the sun comes at dawn,
She winked and she smiled,
and then she was gone,
she's gone, gone, gone, but her song lingers on...
(there is nothing that I would not do for you,
nothing that I would not give for you,
nothing that I would not count as true,
if you tell me that it's so
and if you tell me to go,
I guess I'd better go)
Sitting under a pastel sky,
creation is the moment that you wonder why
Sitting under a pastel sky,
creation is the moment that you wonder why
So whether you laugh or whether you sigh,
the thought moves faster than the time going by,
creation is the moment that you wonder why

21 Reasons
I've got 21 reasons to leave,
I've got just one reason to stay,
It's the finest thing that I've ever seen
when she looks at me that way
I've got answers upon answers,
it's the questions I don't know,
Like the first man out on Jeopardy
but I try to let it flow
And when I go, when I go
I'll be gone before you know,
Moving on, traveling on,
to where those chilly winds don't blow so damn cold
Oh, gone before you know
This season's just one more reason
to get to thinking about the road,
This town she bears down on me,
with her lying and her cheating and her cold
and the time keeps telling me
I'm only getting old,
I start to believe it
when I feel it in my soul
But when I go, when I go,
I'll be gone before you know,
Moving on, traveling on,
to where those chilly winds don't blow so damn cold
Oh, gone before you know
Oh, gone before you know
Oh, gone before you.
The Situation
I set out on the open skies,
the world laid out beneath my eyes,
I stopped in so I could say goodbye,
I turned to look but to my surprise,
you had packed up all your things and moved away
So I moved on for weeks and weeks,
never knowing what i was I should try to seek,
I felt just like some god-damn leech,
when I headed out for that lonely beach,
and I've been living here since forever, since forever and a day
So the situation stands like this,
my poor heart broken by a final kiss,
My soul undone like two minus one,
like a rose that never sees the sun,
and I know that it's only been my fault
So I look on to some brighter day,
when the feeling will start to slip away,
When time flips over it's tired page,
and we're standing on some foreign stage,
when the things that I seek all become those things that I sought
I'm leaving town, I'm leaving today,
you know there's not much need for me to try to stay,
I've got a whole lot of places still in my way,
I've got a whole lot of things I've still got to say,
and a whole lot of things that I have still got to be taught

Maybe I'll Go To Church
03:22
|
|||
Hold on, baby I'll hold on,
I can't move on, I can't let go,
and I can't hide
But someday maybe someday,
I'll find a new love
I'll find a new life,
build a new world,
and maybe I'll sing a new song
I'll pack up all these memories that haunt me,
and I'll leave
Maybe I'll go to church,
maybe I'll put on a nice warm sweater,
maybe I'll watch T.V.
maybe nothing's been the same since you left me
I hear you found a new friend
he holds your hand,
you kiss his lips
Well, baby I found some new friends too,
While I drink beer downstairs,
they make love on the second floor,
don't matter anymore
Maybe I'll go to church,
maybe I'll get real high,
maybe I'll find some peace,
maybe nothing's been the same since you left me
Since you left me,
my whole world has changed,
Baby nothing's been the same

New Diamond Ring Blues
02:41
|
|||
My baby told me just about the other day,
that she was gettin' tired of all the games that I play,
but pretty mama, you know you've got your games too
and don't you remember how I learned all of my games from you
My baby told me just about an hour ago,
that I should be heading out of her door,
she said, "Little boy, you must be on your way,
I've got another man comin round in half-an-hour,
says all the things you used to say"
Well, baby baby, how could you treat me so bad,
after all the sweet lovin that you and me had,
she said, "Times change, people change, an honey I change too",
Then she walked over to the closet and she handed me down
my old walking shoes
I guess I'd better walk on
Baby, baby's got this new diamond ring,
I don't even know where she got that ugly thing,
some other man, I suppose, sure enough wasn't me
so I'll just shuffle down this lonely street,
looking for some other kind of girl to meet
Well I see the problem here, you know i see it so clear,
you wanted to be the only thing catching my ear,
but I thought you'd know by now, the music can take you so far
and I love you pretty darlin'
but I just can't breathe without this here guitar

'Till
03:58
|

I went down to the Gypsy Shop,
just to find out what you've been talking about
I asked the women there if she knew your face
She said she knew you well but you ain't been around,
since well before the sun went down,
so I counted that whole scene just one big disgrace
It's running in this circle that's driving me insane,
Got nothing left to do but learn the rules of the game
to play it well at least the best that I can,
'Till I hear from you again
People down here are just like people up there,
We've all got some questions under our hair,
'bout life on this chessboard and what it could mean,
and just who's up there moving around all these pieces anyway?
I've been down and I've been up,
I've been searching for some holy cup,
but all that I found was this old rusty grail

'Till II
03:47
|
|||
I swear,
I've never seen you before
In the same way,
that I do today
Now it's too late,
cause I just had to wait
And you were gone,
by the time I finished this song
Night after night,
I'm doing alright
'Till I see,
that I won't hear from you
And I won't hear from you,
no, no, not tonight,
I won't hear from you
